Nandini milk price in Karnataka might increase by up to ₹8 per litre very soon. The state cabinet has approved this plan, but the final decision is still pending.

If the government passes the full price hike to the public, the popular blue packet (Toned Milk) will change from ₹46 per litre to ₹54 per litre.

Right now, the new prices are not active because voting rules (Model Code of Conduct) are in place for local elections. The government is waiting for permission from the Election Commission. Reports say the new price might start from November 1, 2026.

How Will This Hike Affect Your Monthly Budget?

If the ₹8 price hike is fully implemented, your monthly milk bill will go up. Here is a simple math breakdown:

  • If you buy 1 Litre daily: You will spend ₹240 extra every month.
  • If you buy 2 Litres daily: You will spend ₹480 extra every month.

This price change will also make items like tea, coffee, sweets, paneer, and hotel food more expensive in your city, as local shops will face higher costs.

Why Nandini milk price Increasing?

Nandini milk price hike 2026

Dairy farmers in Karnataka are facing tough times. The cost of cattle feed, grass (fodder), medicines, and transport has gone up rapidly.

Currently, Karnataka farmers get around ₹35 per litre for their milk. In neighbouring states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra, farmers get much more (₹41 to ₹42 per litre).

To help local farmers survive, the government wants to raise the price. Out of the ₹8 increase:

  • ₹6 will go directly to the dairy farmers.
  • ₹2 will go to the milk unions to cover processing and transport costs.
